DUAL FUEL SYSTEM
- Cheaper Power Generation
- Cleaner Environment
- Longer Generator Life
Dual fuel conversion provides the best benefits; diesel engine ruggedness and torque capabilities along with the economy and environmental benefits of burning clean gas.
Operate your Diesel Generator on a mixture of Diesel and Natural Gas at 30% of Existing Diesel Cost!
What is Dual Fuel Conversion?
Dual Fuel Conversion enables diesel engines to operate a mixture of natural gas and diesel fuel. This enables cheaper power generation, a cleaner environment and longer generator life Because natural gas is a much cleaner fuel than diesel. Internal condition of the engine operating on dual fuel stays much better as compared to when it is being operated only on diesel fuel. Engine life is prolonged and the time between overhauls increased. Dual Fuel operation also minimizes problems associated with cartage, storage and handling of large volumes of diesel fuel.
How it works?
Dual Fuel engines operate on both natural gas and diesel simultaneously. The majority of the fuel burned is natural gas whereas diesel is used to ignite the mixture. This allows retention of the diesel compression ratio and its efficiency while burning cheap and clean natural gas. We use the same principle of operation as those of dedicated gas engines. However, instead of a spark ignition system, we use diesel fuel to ignite the natural gas. It also allows the engine to be operated. On full diesel fuel whenever required.
Safety Aspects
Petrol is a highly unsafe, volatile, easily ignited and hazardous fuel. Diesel, though less volatile than petrol presents the same problems as Petrol as regards storage, handling etc.
Natural gas is a very safe fuel. It is buoyant and rises into the atmosphere. It does not pool on the ground and therefore spills or leakages dissipate rapidly in the atmosphere. It has a high ignition temperature, approximately 1,200oF (about 500oF higher than gasoline) and is therefore difficult to auto-ignite. It also has a narrow range of flammability. This means that in concentrations .
below 5% and above 15%, natural gas will not burn. These factors make accidental ignition or combustion of natural gas unlikely. Natural gas does not detonate in an open environment. Natural gas is neither toxic nor corrosive and it cannot contaminate ground water.
